Windows 7 – Solution / Fix – The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network

I recently changed out my ‘core’ Linksys router, for a more ‘hackable’ Asus. Both routers were running similar versions of dd-wrt, and I was careful to make sure I kept all of the same setting when provisioning the new Asus. Still, the result was that all of the devices on my LAN running Windows 7 were suddenly met with limited network connectivity, displaying the following error:

The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network

Each laptop had it’s own set of unique symptoms. Some were cycling the network adapter on and off, others refused to connect to the network all together (and displaying a ‘red X’ beside my LAN network)– however, they were all easy to fix! I put together the video above to help others experiencing the same problems.
