Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Communications Administration v8.0 (ICOMM 640-461)

A few days ago, I passed the ‘CCNA Voice’, or as it is properly named, Introducing Cisco Voice and Unified Communications Administration v8.0 (ICOMM 640-461) exam, with a 95.3%. Both Cisco and Pearson Vue make it quite clear, that discussing the contents of the exam will result in an instant revocation of your certification, so I won’t be doing that in this post. I will, however, recommend that you take the ICOMM if you’re a communications jockey looking for a way to get a little more life out of your CCNA, or are looking to enhance your understanding of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity Connection, and/or Cisco Unified Presence.

As discussed in my last post, the CCNA has a shelf-life of 3 years (as of the time of this writing), before 3 years elapses, you must renew via a retest, or pass (almost any other) Cisco certification. If you’re a busy person (teaching SIP protocol, and such) then one of Cisco’s CCNA specialty exams might be a great way to both broaden your professional skill set, and kick the CCNA certification down the road for another 3 years, without sacrificing massive amounts of time to studies.

The CCNA specialty exams currently come in 3 flavors, each of which will serve to extend your CCNA another 3 years, and add some more cool letters beside your name: Security IINS (640-554), Wireless IUWNE (640-722), and Voice ICOMM (640-461).
