Abandonia.com – Retro Games For Epic Nerds

Threepwood’s attempts to become a mighty pirate are to a well-seasoned PC gamer. Problem is, unlike lousy hipsters, no functional adult has an interest in setting up their Commodore 64 (where’s my mach 5 cartridge?) or plugging in an i486/66MHz and booting into DOS (autoexec.bat what?).

Well, lovers of nostalgic gaming rejoice! No, the hipster community hasn’t collectively decided trying to breathe water would be more ironic than breathing air– but, if you are a child of the 80’s, and grew up gaming on such classics as Quest for Glory, King’s Quest, The Secret of Monkey Island, Zork: The Underground Adventure, Doom, SimCity, Ultima Underword or Wasteland (ever hear of Fallout? It’s based on this classic game)- then Abandonia.com is for you!

Abandonia.com features free classic games for download. Lots of them. Any game that has been abandoned by the manufacturer (no longer available for purchase) and/or the rights protecting the software has run out. The community is lousy with helpful fans, and most games come complete with detailed instructions on getting them to work on your current OS.

You’ll find no shortage of time killers, and may have some fun flashbacks to when the most tedious chore for the day was to avoid being eaten by a grue.

Happy gaming!
